Hotel Review: Anatolian Houses Cave Hotel Presidential Suite (Cappadocia)

Staying at a cave hotel on your visit to Cappadocia always seems to make the list of things to do. While there are plenty of hotels offering cave hotels, one of the best in my opinion is the Anatolian Houses Cave Hotel. The hotel is located in Goreme, Cappadocia and is an easy walk from many of the best restaurants in the city.

I should mention early on that this was also one of the largest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Total area came in around 60m which is big by most “presidential suite” standards to begin with. I knew when I came to Cappadocia I wanted to stay in a cave hotel, and after seeing the pictures of this place I decided to splurge.

How To Get To Anatolian Houses Cave Hotel

If this is your first time in Cappadocia the easiest thing to do is just take a shuttle from the airport to your hotel. There are two airports in the region: Kayseri and Nevsehir. Kayseri is more popular, but the drive is about an hour away. However every hotel has a shuttle service from either airport so you will not have to worry. 

If you find the hotel’s prices to be a bit too high, you can arrange a shuttle on your own. I recommend Cappadocia Pokemon Travel. Their shuttle prices are 50-60 TL per person each direction.

Anatolian Houses Cave Hotel Public Area

This hotel is situated on the south side of the city, and it does have a view. From their terrace you can watch the balloons in the morning and the sunset in the evening. This hotel also has TWO pools. While I didn’t swim in the outside pool, the inside pool was quite nice.

Anatolian Houses Cave Hotel also has a Spa for those who want a little extra relaxation, as well as a restaurant and bar. I have to say the breakfast served at the restaurant is fantastic. Plus it’s already included into your room rate. 

Check-In

On arrival I was warmly greeted by the staff and check-in couldn’t have been easier. Just a quick scan of my passport and then I was led across a small courtyard into the presidential suite. 

The Room

What can I say about the room that pictures don’t do better. Let’s talk about outside the room first. Right by the front door is a small table and chairs perfect for a tea or coffee (provided in the room complimentary). Sitting here gives you a partial view of the Goreme valley.

You enter the room directly into a sitting area with a tv mounted on the wall. Being in a cave you would expect it to feel cold and dreary, but that’s far from the truth. The yellow-cream colored walls of the cave lend a warmth to the area. 

To the right of the sitting area is another sitting area around a fireplace. Yes, there’s a fireplace in the room. I didn’t use it during my stay, but the staff would be happy to set up a fire for you if you wish. 

Past the sitting rooms is the bedroom. And what a grand area it is. The bedroom is open but framed by a beautiful arch and columns. The bed is large and extremely comfortable. It’s a great place to enjoy a night’s sleep after a long walk to see the fairy chimneys in Zemi Valley. 

Now for the piece de resistance: an in ground hot tub. This was the best feature for me, because what girl doesn’t love a nice hot soak after a long day in the dusty valley. This hot tub is located right off the bedroom for a truly romantic feel, and the hardware is top of the line. 

Surrounding the hot tub are actual artifacts that were discovered as the hotel was being built. How authentic is that! You can see actual Anatolian pottery while enjoying a bath, which really lends to the ambiance of staying here. 

Bathroom

If you don’t feel like spending a while in the luxurious hot tub the bathroom also has a shower. In this section you’ll find a sink with basic hotel amenities as well as a couple robes. Next to the toilet is a bidet which is a common feature in Turkey. People really emphasize cleanliness in this country, which is always a positive attribute.
