Smoothie bowls have seemingly become all the rage in the past five years, and no place has this been more evident than Bali, Indonesia. This is my third time to Indonesia, but my first time to Canggu, a city located on the Western Coast of the island. It may be presumptuous to think I can find the best smoothie bowls in Canggu, but here I go anyways.
Canggu is far less ritzy than Nusa Dua, and has less of a party atmosphere than Seminyak. You can read Alona’s review of our AirBnBguesthouse to see how we travel. What they do have in Canggu is a chilled out lifestyle, fantastic surf, and tons of healthy eating. This list of the best smoothie bowls in Canggu is not meant to be comprehensive, just my top 5 favorites.
If you are looking for a healthy energy giving breakfast, look no further than one of the following smoothie bowls.
This wonderful bowl makes a perfect breakfast and is filled with healthy food. The base is a red dragon fruit and banana yogurt which makes the beautiful fuchsia color. Atop that is banana, coconut flakes, chia seeds, muesli, and of course some more red dragon fruit slices.
I really like Machinery Café. It is located about 15 minutes walking from the coast, fully air conditioned, and has comfortable seating. As soon as we sat down the waiter brought us some cold filtered water which was nice as we were having “breakfast” around 12pm. All the taxes are included in the price you see, so no need to wonder if they add a percentage to your bill once you go to pay like most places here in Canggu. Price for the Dragon Bowl: 58k IDR.

Cafe Organic is a place that always seems crowded, and for good reason. They have tons of delicious food to offer, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. This makes it a hip spot for all the digital nomads that call Canggu home. This Afrika bowl is one of their best sellers. Out of all the smoothie bowls in Canggu I’ve listed, this one can also easily be dessert!
There are tons of different components that make up this smoothie bowl. It’s a base of cacao, topped with organic peanut butter bliss balls, maca powder, cashews, chocolate flakes, banana, granola, coconut flakes, and vegan caramel. Wow, what a full list.
If you do go here, be sure to pair it with one of their healthy organic juices to balance the sweetness. Featured in the picture is their Kale juice which is light and refreshing. Price for The Afrika Smoothie Bowl: 65k IDR.
This acai berry smoothie bowl makes a fantastic breakfast, even though I had it for dinner. Cocomo is a cute trendy restaurant located on the main street (like all these places) with both outdoor and indoor seating.
This smoothie bowl starts with a base of what I believe to be acai berry “nice-cream” which is basically ice-cream made with bananas instead of heavy cream. Pretty popular at all these vegan places in Canggu. That is topped with strawberries, bananas, chia seeds, coconut flakes, and granola. This smoothie bowl costs 62k IDR.

Whenever I’m in South East Asia, I pretty much eat mango every day. So much better than what I can get in Europe for sure. Thus the first of the smoothie bowls in Canggu I ordered was a mango bowl from Betelnut Cafe. I like the vibe of this cafe because it feels a little like a tree house. Yes, it’s on the main street, but being above it all in a wooden structure really takes you out of the traffic below.
This is my favorite out of all the smoothie bowls I had during my time in Canggu. It starts with a base of what I believe to be a mango blended yogurt. This is topped with strawberries, bananas, chia seeds, granola, coconut flakes, papaya, pineapple, and a honey drizzle. If you weren’t already on one of the best islands in the world, you’d still be transported there after one bite.
This mango bowl is pretty sweet so I paired it with a strong black coffee which worked out perfectly. The cost for this bowl is 65k IDR

If you work out as much as I do (almost never) then this bowl will still make you feel great about yourself. It’s filled with healthy super foods and even though it is a protein bowl, it is still delicious. The cost of the bowl is 72k IDR
The Loft is a very trendy restaurant that has tons of great food other than smoothie bowls. However as we all know that I’m focusing on smoothie bowls in Canggu, let’s talk about this one. The base is a blend of banana, dates, cinnamon, moringa protein powder, peanut butter, and cacao nibs. It’s topped with tons of stuff like strawberries, banana, coconut flakes, granola, and chia seeds. If I was one to hit the gym, this would definitely be a bowl I’d get regularly.
